I catch his eye

In elementary school, I, along with the rest of my classmates, was asked the question “What do you want to be when you grow up?”
In our 6-year old minds, answers like princesses and princes, pop-stars, astronauts, firefighters, singers, actors, professional sport players or even characters we admired off of our favorite cartoon show immediately popped into our heads. The world was ours and the options seemed endless. We were dreamers.
And then we got older and reality began to sink in. Our answers became actual occupations like doctors, lawyers, veterinarians, or teachers. But we really didn’t know anything. We picked doctors because our dads were doctors. We picked lawyers because our favorite actor off of a show was…
