Dream On

I am a dreamer. I dream about a lot of things. And I have had some important dreams fulfilled. But not I’m not just a dreamer.  I believe that dreams come true when we work  hard, live right, and speak positively.  I may not always live right, but I try!  And most of the times when I mess up it mostly has to do with my mouth and my attitudes.  I believe we have to put legs on our dreams.

So many times we kill our dreams with our mouths.  Instead of speaking positively about what we want to happen, we speak negatively.  “That will never happen!”  or “I can’t do that!”  We have to see what we want to happen and speak what we want to happen.  Now I’m not saying that just because we speak it, it will happen.  Not at all!  We have to work at it.  And I’m not talking about dreams that are irresponsible.

But we have to believe in ourselves and our dreams.  And we have to say so!

I have always dreamed about writing and publishing a book.  In the past and even now when I meet someone who has published a book, I buy one and have it signed.  Because, I always say, one day that will be me!  When I see a book store, I say, “One day I’ll have a book in a book store.”  When I see a library, I say, “One day I’ll have a book in a library.”  And I do!  I have had a couple of book signings for my former students, and I have books in the libraries of the school from which I retired.  One day my books will be in other libraries and book stores!  And I have students who ask me questions about writing.  That’s amazing, and so much fun!

So take it from someone who started a career after becoming a grandmother, and who had her first book published after retirement.  You can do it!  I’ve only just begun.  So dream on, friend!  Dream on!
