The funniest thing happened to me today. I read writing information often so I can become a better writer, and I take the writing advice and tips very seriously. One writing tip said the protagonist should have at least one or two good qualities, so the other day I had my guy do something to benefit a less fortunate group of people.
Well, today I was typing away, and without my realization, it was revealed that my guy had an ulterior motive for doing the good thing. I was so surprised! I had no clue that he was doing the good thing only to benefit himself. I’ve always heard characters take on a life of their own, and I see it is true. Now do I have to give him another good quality? Mmmm…
